Sharon Welch
Sharon D. Welch is a professor of Religious Studies, Women's Studies and Peace Studies at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. Ms. Welch is a member of the International Steering Committee of Global Action to Prevent War. She began her teaching at MU in 1991, prior to which she taught at Harvard Divinty School (1982 - 1991). Welch is a Senior Fellow in the Center for Religion, the Professions, and the Public, a project leader of the Ford sponsored Difficult Dialogues Program and c-chair of the MU Committee for the Scholarship of Multicultural Teaching Learning. As of September 1, 2007, she will become Provost and Professor of Religion and Society at Meadville Lombard Theological School, the Unitarian Universalist seminary in Chicago, IL. She is the author of four books, her most recent being After Empire: The Art and Ethos of Enduring Peace (Fortress, 2004). Dr. Welch is the recipient of numerous awards, many of which recognize her excellence in teaching.
